I don't think he is so weak as you indicate in rapid.
In the Cannes World Cup of Rapid Chess of last year won by Kasparov Mikhail
Gurevich arrived until the quarter of finals, and the following are the final
standings of group B:

Final Standings:

1. Adams, Michael 5.0, 2. Gurevich, Mikhail 5.0, 3. Bacrot, Etienne 4.5, 4.
Tkachiev, Vladislav 4.5, 5. Kasimdzhanov, Rustam 4.0, 6. Hamdouchi, Hichem 2.0,
