Extra hint: Doublecheck the cpu and ram settings in the bios during reboot. Maybe you had a hardware problem some time ago after which the bios can switch to safety defaults. These settings can result in half the speed if for example the front side bus speed is reduced from 133 to 66, or from 66 to 33.
