You are right: a good program plays well on slower hardware too. I have three PC's [Ath 1.3/256, P3 800/128, P3 650/128] and can confirm that a program beating another badly will almost never lose a match over 30 games on P3 650/128 vs Ath 1.3/256. In most cases the only difference is that the weaker program normally makes the wrong moves on a much deeper search level. I would even go further and say that the much better program will not lose on K6-3/450 vs Ath 1.3 Kurt
