Firstly, Crafty is not amateur as metioned of Bob. Secondly, depend on versions,
time control and other conditions, some free engines sometimes have already
higher ratings. For example, I see in one rating list (at
http://www.wbholmes.de/elo/eloceleron.txt) Yacce 2548, Crafty 2495. Not all
strong ones will go to commercial, sometimes some of them (like LambChop) come
back as a freeware.
