In fact, since humans play chess in a different manner than programs, it could even be a mistake for him to do this kind of thing so early in his development -- if he cannot find a suitable GM instructor, his time might be better spent browsing through the latest Informant or NIC, and/or blitzing versus strong human players at ICC.
