The problem is not the number of customers using the system.

Actually my developpement system is DOS with the free GCC compiler.

I compile the Windows version when I need to publish an update, that's all. I
could very well use Linux as my developpement system (I would just keep the GCC
compiler).

But I want a system that:
1) has a big enough community
2) I can safely advice to friends and family


Point number 1 is almost OK with Linux. For point number 2, Linux is clearly a
bad choice (so far).

Actually what the world needs is a low priced Windows clone. It's not very
important if the OS core is Linux or NT (they look quite similar to me).

The KDE project is probably on the right track, if they manage to get the
fanatics out of the project.
