Most ready to install Linux distributions are bloated beyond belief. The main culprit is the incredibly hoakey X-Windows, it's a client-server device. And when you add KDE or Gnome. Then the overhead will kill you on a slow machine. 128 RAM and a 400 MHz processor does well. Running a CLI linux/BSD system demands a 33MHz 386 CPU and 4MB of RAM. And it will run fast and reliably when you disable the unnecessary daemons. MvH Dan Andersson
