The fact that it's stateless.

The fact that you can offer options to the user via
the protocol.

The fact that configuring hashtables and EGTB support is
standardized.

The fact that you don't have to care about resigning,
offering draws or handling the openings book.
(many people seem to dislike it for this reason)

The fact that is is clean.

The fact that is was thought out by someone who had
programmed a chessengine. (I love 'ponderhit')

The fact that new ChessBase programs supports a subset of
it. (I would have preferred complete support of course)
