Of course not.  xwindows by itself is just a windows manager and the needed
drivers to support the graphics cards.  Other apps are added in including
various terminal windows and so forth.  magicdev is just another x app.  It
comes with redhat, so I assume it comes with most others...

Perhaps I am wrong then.  But in any case, redhat handles this nicely and I have
been a satisfied user for years...
