The fast searchers like chess system tal and Comet simply kill it. I expected them to win but with results like 11-9 or 12-8. I remember 14.5-5.5 for chess system tal and 7.5-2.5 for Comet. It seems based on these results that palm tiger is not going to get more than 2100 sddf rating. The next public winboard movei is going to get an option for special opening book for long matches. It is going to play 1.a3 in the first game,1.a4 in the next game with white and continue in this way so it will be possible to play with it a 40 game match against palm tiger without repeating the same game twice(some games may start with stupid blunder like 1.e4 b5 but even in these condition palm tiger cannot be sure of winning. I believe that people overestimate the value of book and programs do not earn more than 100 elo from book. It may be interesting if someone can try a match of 40 games of programs with their normal book against the same programs with no book except all the legal moves in the first move when both side can use learning.
