Your point is valid in spirit and I understand it, but your example is badly
chosen.

On the Palm you have a hard-printed icon on the screen to do it (the magnifying
glass). It's one of the basic feature of the Palm OS.

On PC, I have solved this since a long time by writting my own variation of
grep. But there are anyway thousands out there that you can get for free.

That's exactly what developpers of Linux should do. That would open their eyes
and make them realize what parts of the system they need to work on.

I think the guys at Lindows.com are on the right track.
