In 845 games with Crafty (mostly at 5 0, but with some 2 8 and some slower games), mine scores 6.5% better when playing white, which in this case translates to about 60 additional rating points. Against all comers either titled (>= IM) or rated >= 2300 (human and computer), mine loses about 1.4 games as black for every 1.0 games it loses as white. bruce
