In my view, Crafty's win is not that susprising. Crafty is very strong at
standard time control. May I add my opinion that these adversaries have
different styles of play. Chess players love Tiger not only for its
strength but also for its astonishing "human" style- Tiger makes the kind of
moves one easily understands. Crafty is another thing, it likes positions that
human players don't naturally like. Crafty makes a lot of what one calls
computer moves, although in this case the moves merit consideration- I think one
can really learn a lot of chess strategy studying Crafty's games at long time
controls, the longer the best.

Wait a moment, this move isn't in the CT's opening book I find in its original
CD! The only move there is 14.b3.

In 2th edition of ECO, Karpov says that 14.Ne3?! is inferior due to "14...g5
15.Bf2 d5 16.cd5 ed5 17.Nf5 Bxf5 18.exf5 Nc4 and Black stands slightly better,
Thorhallson-Comas, Arnhem 1988/89". Exactly like current game! What happens? Is
Chess Tiger playing with a new opening book?
