I might have missed a couple of your posts recently. So here comes my naive question. Do you plan to use it exclusively for computer chess? If yes, did you realize that this version of P4 runs Crafty around 16% slower than an Athlon 2100+ (see http://www.spec.org and look for SpecInt 2000's Crafty test)? If not, enjoy your P4. I have a P4 2.2 GHz in my office for SW development. Works fine. At home, I still use my Athlon 1.4GHz. The P4 2.2 GHz is barely faster than the old Athlon 1.4 when running Crafty. - Well, it is obviously net yet commonly known that the Athlon are better CPUs to run Chess programs than the Pentium CPUs. - I thought, it might.
