I believe the Fritz 7 engine 7,0,0,8 was untouched after I installed the
previous chessbase Fritz 7 upgrade (Engine modification date March 23, 2002).
I even made a copy of the Fritz 7 7,0,0,8 engine before I installed the
previous upgrade over it, just in case the upgrade reverted 7,0,0,8 back to
7,0,0,7, but it remained the same. File size and dates are the same, but I do
not actually know if my two 7,0,0,8 engine files are identical in other ways.
With 7,0,0,8 Fritz appears to be doing better against Hiarcs 8 at a game 1/1
engine tournament. Hiarcs 8 was doing quite well against Fritz 7 7,0,0,7 at game
1/1. It actually beat Fritz 7 4-0 in a round robin tournament. Hash tables set
at 8 MB on a 350 MHz Pentium II 384 SDRAM, ponder off. I also used the Hiarcs
opening book from the CD as it seems to be getting better results than with
Hiarcs 8 Tournament book from the upgrade.
