Now imagine how many idiots fell over me when i presented
perfectly optimized DIEP executables onto a hardware site
where intel usually gets praised into heaven. In fact,
intel spokesman were busy telling me i should optimize for P4
in order to get faster on P4, but the margin which AMD is
faster for me is *huge*.

Seems to me that P4 2.53Ghz has closed in for crafty
(which is just too much dependant at memory speed
as it is doing loads of lookups to memory).

Then i speak about the small L1 datacahce of the P4 at that
site and they fall over me.

It appears the small L1 cache of the P4, which is 1024 words
only of 64 bits (against like 16384 words or so for the K7)
is so integrated into the P4, that my 'simplistic' comment that
they should double or quadruple it in order to get the P4 real
fast for the average application which is integer based, that
they got real mad.

Obviously for P4 everything falls outside of that small L1
cache, so the memory speed for some applications and bandwidth
for others is very important for the speed.

Nevertheless, all those idiots run intel optimized programs.

I blame this onto AMD themselves. They should simply have their
own compiler release for windows!

Right now intel is giving away for FREE versions of their
buggy compiler even, which is very fast on intel machines,
but dead slow of course on K7s, whereas the K7 has BIG potential
to speedup programs!

Anyway, the P4 2.53Ghz is the 'end of the line' version of the P4
for now.

Within a few months the 0.13 micron K7s will be shipping i guess.

Even cheating a bit with compilers won't help then :)
