Hi, I don't know the proper English term for it but in Dutch it is called 'Dolle Toren' (means something like mad rook) Basically one party is in a stalemate position except for one rook. The party with the rook tries to force his opponent to take the rook by giving continuous check. Such a position could emerge from the following position (from a testgame KnightX-Baron): 8/4kp1Q/5p2/4p3/5n2/3r4/r7/4R2K b - - The trap is 1..Rh3 2.Qxh3 Nxh3 3.Rxe5 and white continues to give check. Much better would be 1..Kd6 and the trap is disabled. The latest Crafty (18.15) cannot find the solution in a reasonable amount of time (at least not on my machine (Mobile P-II 500Mhz), it's at ply 15 after 68 minutes). It's current pv: 15 68:09 -5.31 1..Rb2 2.Qf5 Rh3+ 3.Qxh3 Nxh3 4.Rxe5+ Kd6 5.Rd5+ Kc6 6.Rd6+ Kb7 7.Rxf6 Rf2 8.Rb6+ Kc7 9.Rc6+ Kd8 <HT> What does your program find?
