Wouldn't it be easier if all these Chessbase Chess Program CD's allowed us to
actually see the engine files on the CD, so that when purchasing multiple
programs, all we would have to do is COPY the Engine into the First engine
folder from your first Install.
We would always have the option of Installing any CD that we want at some point
if we so desired.
Why Install Fritz 7, purchase Hiarcs 8 and install that, then go through
renaming or moving engine folders or files (so as not to lose a given engine
when uninstalling the program)when we UNINSTALL the 2nd, program and in some
cases 3rd,4th,5th etc. and then have to rename again or move back again.
Life would be so much easier. I don't mind it, as I enjoy doing things such as
just mentioned, but many only know how to install an uninstall programs not
knowing that you have to rename or move engine files or folders to keep an
engine.
Notice the lastest Fritz 6 Upgrade. Once you install the Upgrade your desktop
Fritz 6 icon (shortcut) and the Fritz 6 icon (shortcut)in your
Start>Programs>Chessbase> will not work. You have to delete these shortcuts!
Then you have to go into your Fritz 6 folder and send a copy of the shortcut to
your desktop. Also, if one wants the shortcut in there Start menu, you have to
right click onto Start then click onto EXPLORE, select PROGRAMS, select
Chessbase, and then copy or send the shortcut there so that it will show in your
start menu. OR whichever other way one knows how to place a shortcut in your
start menu.
The point is that Chessbase does not even mention the need to do this with their
present Fritz 6 Upgrade. I only found out that the shortcuts will no longer work
after the upgrade Yesterday 5/27 from a posting on this topic yesterday.
How can Chessbase operate like this?????
