Go up one level in this thread

13 years ago I bought a 8088/2 system with monochrome monitor for the equivalent
of $2,500
A very modern and state-of-the-art 24-point dot matrix printer came at the
cheapest in town for only $600.

They were a replacement for a hypermodern Philips wordprocessing machine, making
me choke after paying over $1,000 in 1987 for it. And that was a replacement for
an electronic typemachine Brother CE-60 I bought for $600 a few years earlier.

I still own these two machines, and even the Salvation Army won't take them for
free. They're in perfect condition.

Today my rule of thumb is that electronics I supply myself with are tomorrow
half the price. If I decide to wait and buy it tomorrow this rule will keep
intact.

A price is the money want they ask for it. I only pay for the pleasure I have
using the electronic equipment. I never have felt swindled in my life before
since then.

Remove the processors from the motherboard and buy cheaper ones. Sell your old
ones in ten years to NASA, when they will be looking for old and reliable P4
-technology. :)

Faith.

J.
