Here are the results of a large number of Blitz games, trying various selectivity settings for Hiarcs8. All matches: * Hiarcs8 v Gambit Tiger 2.0 * 3' + 2" * K6-2/450 64Mb * 6Mb Hash each * Hiarcs8 using its tournament book, 4 piece tablebases * Gambit using its own book, ChessPartner GUI * Auto232, single computer (Win/NT) * Results audited for duplicates (only two) and incorrectly claimed wins (due to Auto232 timeouts?) by Chessbase GUI (lots). Results show scores, ELO difference and 95% confidence intervals. Conclusion: the default settings gave the best results (Hiarcs8 even won that match). Preliminary opening analysis suggests that (against Gambit) Hiarcs8 HATES the Sicilian both as white [41.8%] and black [28.8%] (especially as black against B22c The Alappin [13.7%]: 1.e4 c5 2. Nf3 e6 3.c3). -------------------------------------- Selective=3 6/22 (27.3%) +3 =6 -13 ELO= -170 (95% CI: -296 to -19) Selective=4 68/148 (45.9%) +43 =50 -55 ELO= -28 (95% CI : -82 to +14) Selective=5 62.5/137 (45.6%) +40 =45 -52 ELO= -31 (95% CI: -87 to +14) Selective=6 7.5/22 (34.1%) +3 =9 -10 ELO= -115 (95% CI: -250 to -2) Selective=7 59/114 (default setting) (51.8%) +45 =28 -41 ELO= +12 (95% CI: -40 to +76) ---------------------------------------
