I see what you mean by this little remark.

Microsoft has built its empire by letting people copy their software. That has
killed the competition while MS did not really need to sell that much due to the
fact that money came by itself from the sales of new computers, on which a copy
of DOS then Windows was preinstalled (and paid by the customer).

I knew that sooner or later people -me included- would get caught by this.

But please never forget that your job and your salary is what it is thanks to
the million of pirated copies of MS software in the years 1986-2000.

Piracy has not been fought by Microsoft. It has just been kept under reasonable
control. That was so convenient.

When all competition has been killed Microsoft suddenly comes up with a real
protection system. What a coincidence.

Now if you want to discuss about piracy, who does and who doesn't, let's go.
