I find Shredder's choice of defense against Comet's King's Gambit rather odd.
Instead of challenging this by accepting, Shredder played the Falkbeer
Countergambit, following up with 3...e4, which currently has a rather poor
theoretical status (the Nimzovich line with 3...c6 is doing better). Then it
entered a subvariation which has been deemed definitely bad since the first
decade of the last century by playing 7...f5. Of course, Comet still had to play
very well to win after this, but Shredder gave it a terrific position to start
from. Why?
