I have a COM component to talk to WinBoard chess engines; it's quite primitive
but works OK and makes it quick and easy to get up and running. Unfortunately
it's in VB (wince), but I am in the process of implementing a nice COM component
with a separate polling thread that won't require any runtime DLLs etc. This
will also be open-source, of course.

If you're interested, take a look at http://www.oellermann.com/skaar for
details.
