Dear Readers, I have a computer software problem that I've never read about before. The solution may be very simple, but I'm just too stupid to figure it out on my own (OK, I'm a computer idiot!). I received my new computer in July 2001. For the next 3-4 months I was able to open pgn attachments with no difficulties. Then I received a couple viruses, possibly from e-mail attachments. I was subsequently able to remove these viruses, but then was unable to open pgn attachments in the standard fashion. In fact, the pgn attachment icon changed from a red/white/blue box to a dark gray one. This was true for attachments already saved and for new incoming attachments. When I clicked on the icon and chose open, the effect was that it activated my D-drive (CD Rom)! So my work-around solution was to save the pgn attachment to my C drive and open it with Notepad. However even that solution seems to have failed. My only solution now is to forward e-mail attachments to my computer here at work in order to print out a hard copy. Clearly, as a chess player I'd like to read pgn attachments sent by others. Also, I'd like to be able to replay games in my Chess Master personality tournaments (saved as PGN files). Do any of you have a solution? Should I re-install my Windows 98 program? Thanks in advance for your advice. All the best, Stephen
