Hi I just wondered, in Shredder it seems that there is a limit to the extension depth, in example it shows 10/20 and i interpret the first number as the main depth and the last as the extension depth( i may be totally wrong, it wouldnt be the first time !!! :) ) Now the question is : Why is the extension depth always 2x the main depth ?? Is there some studies that show some connection between the extension depth and the main depth ? Or is it just a coincedence ( seems a little far fetched ) Or is it just a rule, so the search tree will not explode to much ? ( more likely ) Or is it just a decision by the Stefan Mayer-Kahlen ( i think this is most likely ) I mean why not 2.5x main depth or 1.7x main depth etc. With regards Kim
