I'm contacting Chessbase reguarding the system they are using. Xeons are definitely not the best setup for a match such as this. I'm seeing at the moment about having AMD sponsor a multi-cpu Sledgehammer machine for the event. If Chessbase accepts Frans should be able to get his hands on a dual Sledgehammer rather soon to start his work on porting over a full blown 64bit version. It can run the current Fritz 7 (32bit) without problems if need be though. Really looking forward to this. Hopefully Chessbase accepts. AMD should agree as long as there are mature/stable dual/quad boards available at the time of the match. The publicity should be quite good for both AMD and Chessbase as well as provide Kramnik with a tougher opponent. Will keep anyone interested on this matter posted on the situation.
