No doubt it has to do with the closed position you can create. In my humble
experience I always start as white with d4 against a computer. Most wins against
my old 1986 stand alone Scysis start with d4 form my side.

Weird enough the only positive result against a stronger engine is a draw I once
managed with white against Junior 6.0 starting with e4,c5. Afterwards I had
Junior analyse it's black moves because I doubted my draw. However analyzing
every move of this 25 min. sd game for 60 seconds and with a analysis threshold
of 0.3 pawns Junior agreed with every move it made in the actual game. So my
draw *was* real :)
