I would call the "thinking games" strategy games and some of the current games like Microsoft Age of Empires II:Conquerors and Civilization III make a great deal of money. The only problem is that you need a large team of people to design such programs. It is interesting to note however that these games constantly get negative feedback about how poorly they play. Currently they just give the computer speed advantages to make up for the lack of "intelligence" in these human vs computer games. Anyway if you could work on one of these projects and do the computer logic you could probably make good money.
