Send your question to info@chessbase.com and you will eventually get an
authoritative answer.  If they don't currently provide that feature, they may be
prompted by your email to provide it in the future.

I assume you are using Fritz to communicate with playchess.com.  Not sure if can
use playchess.com otherwise.

Go ahead and spend the $50.  You get a lot more for the money besides being able
to use mexamine commands.  Besides, do you wish to limit yourself to just one
chess server?
