Thanks Gian-Carlo. Now we're getting somewhere. Here's the output:

Chess
kibitz Comet-B.46 says hello
xboard
e2e4
1. ... e7e5
whisper sc=-0.26 dp=8 nps=0K tb=0 pv=e7e5-g1f3
g1f3
2. ... g8f6
whisper sc=-0.34 dp=9 nps=102K tb=0 pv=g8f6-d2d4
d1d4
Illegal move: d1d4
unexpected input: <d1d4>
d2d4
3. ... f6e4
whisper sc=-0.25 dp=9 nps=0K tb=0 pv=f6e4-d4e5

But where does xboard come into play? I get the same without typing xboard at
the prompt.

Steve
