My engine was named 'ChessEngine' for a long time only living on my harddrive.
Then when I had implemented the Winboard-protocol and was ready to put it up on
ICC I had to find another name. A name wasn't easy to find. After searching div.
lexicon etc. for a name it hit me one night when I tried to sleep (as all my
ideas do) that my main creative period with the keyboard at home is in the long
night between November and January. This timeperiod is called Polar night and is
a good time to sit inside and play against the engine.
