Interesting Game between two 2600 GM's. Mate in 29 moves. GM Short played 9...Nxb4 starting his attack. [D] r1bq1rk1/pp3ppp/2n1pn2/2bp4/1PP2B2/P1N1PN2/5PPP/R2QKB1R b KQ - 4 1 GM Epishin played 12.0-0-0 some programs play 12.Rc1 maybe this was the losing move for white. [D] r1bq1rk1/1p3ppp/4pn2/p2p4/1bP2B2/1QN1PN2/5PPP/R3KB1R w KQ - 4 1 several more weak moves by white. after white castles and moves his king in the middle of the battle, black keeps pressure on white, white must defend and never plays the Rook at h1, or gets any chance to use the Knight at f3. GM Epishin played 22.Qd2 which is mate in 8. black wins [D] 2r3k1/4qp1p/4pp2/1P1p4/p7/b1rRPN2/3QBPPP/1K5R b - - 0 22 [Event "Sigeman&Co CT"] [Date "2002.13.6"] [Round "8"] [White "Epishin, Vladimir"] [Black "Short, Nigel"] [Result "0-1"] [WhiteElo "2606"] [BlackElo "2673"] [ECO "D37"] [PlyCount "56"] 1. d4 e6 2. c4 Nf6 3. I had not seen this move before, but Topalov playing black won with 9...Nxb4 blindfolded! So it seems this is old move. Have you seen this move in any program book?
