This was Red Hat 7.3. So it was the latest kernel. I have no idea what caused this, but I know that my USB ports were locking up the computer. No big deal. I just disabled them. Hyatt's quick response (thanks Hyatt!) got everything working again, without a problem. I just had no idea kuduz was the program that checked for new hardware. (IMO, stupid.) USB (usb-ochi) was also locking up the PC. But adding 'append="nousb"' to lilo.conf fixed that. Like I said, I will never use those USB ports anyway. Oh well, thanks to all that replied. I did search for > 1 hour on the internet before asking. :) Slate On June 13, 2002 at 12:59:03, Slater Wold wrote: >I just installed Linux on a PC. > >At first, it would not install, so I had to boot up using "linux nousb". >Everything installed fine afterwards. > >But now when I boot, it locks up at "Checking for new hardware". > >Any idea how to disable that? > >Thanks in advance........
