When at last it worked well enough ( without sound though !) ,one evening it simply crashed for unknown reasons and when I restarted it I had to run fsck on its filesystems. After I had entered the commands and watched the computer working I suddenly remembered how nice life had always been with Windows 98SE - and the next command I ran was fdisk :-). For computerchess it is also a problem that there are very few chessprograms for this platform availlable - and why use emulators if you can simply use the real thing ? When it is about Windows ME I wonder why it has such a bad reputation. My PC _never_ crashes and seems to behave very well. Also security isn't more of an issue as with any other OS for private purposes. XP is fine, too - although it is a pity that Chess Tiger will always crash after long searches. Peter
