Yes, there is.
The Celeron works with 100Mhz SDRAM and has only 128kb L2 cache.
The Athlon works with 266Mhz DDRAM and has 256kb L2 cache and more L1 cache (I
think it is 64k) than the Celeron.
For chess is faster.
For other games it is also faster particularly for DirectX games.

You should also ask what are the future upgrades options for each system.
