In general AMD is faster and better for chess than Celeron. On the other hand,
with AMD you might have cooling problems, especially now in summer time. I had
to slow down my Ath 1.44 with 3 cooling fans to 1.33 in order to run Fritz & Co.
And in these very hot days [over 32°] I am working with open PC to avoid crashes
with Fritz & Co. Therefore I would recommend you to buy a Celeron with
Tualatin-Core with 256 KB cache. You will never have heating problems with this
fine CPU. Proberly running AMD Athlon need good cool systems and are then of
course working rather loud. Hence, I will never again buy an AMD, even if Intel
CPU's are slower for chess.
