When I first started my attempts to write a chess program, I just sat down and coded. After starting over many, many times because I reached a point where I wish I had done something different from the beginning, I decided to start designing and planning. So now I do a lot of "pre-thinking" about how I'm going to implement this or that, and how it's going to work with other things. It helps more than you would think. I've made it farther than ever before on this version and I haven't had any inclinations to just start over yet, so I think it's working. Russell
