By a 'tournament server', I mean an application that receives information (in
real time) from the players (chess engines) about the games going on.
[ Maybe this is a done deal and there are 'tournament servers' out there
already. ]
My question is:
"What information would you like the tournament server to receive from the
players ... and what would you want the server to do with the information?"
Obvious answers, but further ideas are requested here:
1) the moves and the engine's rating in 'pawn points' of the game
- server could spot 'interesting' moves such as:
e.p. capture, Q-side castling, promotion
- server could 'normalise' both sides scoring and spot divergence
- server could note when an engine's evaluation changes radically
- server could note when a game diverges from a previous game
2) engine notification that some event, specific to it, has happened, e.g.
- "with move m, I have just left my opening book"
- "I announce forced win in m moves or less"
- "I am consulting endgame table E in my analysis"
- "my opponent has not played the move I was expecting"
The basic idea is that the tournament server could not only produce a basic
record of the tournament but could add some basic annotation, pointing out the
'interesting' or 'key' moments of the game.
Thanks in advance for contributed ideas.
