Well, I've finally and permanently squished the bug that was causing this problem (again). Thanks very much to all respondents, and especially Dieter and Uri, who maintained that it wasn't caused by null move. Without their intervention, I might have overlooked the true cause of the problem. In fact, it wasn't a bug, so much as a piece of untested code, which shouldn't have been in PM at all. I'm not sure why the code was still there, but I've removed it permanently now. Cheers Andrew
