Subject: One $30000 Chess Computer versus Ten $3000 PCs

Which would give you "more chess"? Same money either way.

If the $30000. computer allowed you to load the entire chess engine [or most of
it] into a cache, then maybe this would be the winner?

If the ten PCs, with top chess engines, were used would this give "more chess"?

[May need to consider the need for a window air conditioner and a good set of
earplugs.]

How the ten PCs were utilized might be the main consideration. Do they work
independently? If not, then what?

Incidentally, if all ten PCs were rack mounted into a single standard 19" rack,
someone might claim the loaded rack was a single chess computer. This might
cause a little bit of confusion. Hence, it may be necessary to define what is
meant by a "single $30000 chess computer."

Any thoughts on this? Which is best? What would YOU prefer?
