Sometimes on a big fail low, programs will lose on time. Perhaps (for instance) a deep search showed that the program was about to drop a queen or something very drastic. When that happens, the computer will search desperately for an alternative move. It stands to reason that since the program is going to lose anyway unless it finds an alternative it may as well search until it finds something better or loses on time. Perhaps that is the case here (I have not analyzed the final position).
