Fritz is made by Frans Morsch who writes in assembly. Sure he is a
great guy, i can personally confirm this. Nevertheless he won't be
able to sell IRIX versions from Fritz, and he is a commercial chess
programmer. So obviously i would not advice him to write fritz for
IRIX.

Irix is what is getting used by SGI. It is a further developed unix
version.
