Hi Roy, For quick fun games (say 10min +10sec/move) I enjoy the CM8k personalities around the 1800-2000 range. (I will buy CM9k because of this.) For a long serious game Hiarcs732 (I havn't purchased H8), or ChessTiger14. These two engines IMO play most like intuative humans. They are both relativly slow searchers, implying more knowledge considerations per move. My other engines Fritz, RebelCentury4, Crafty18, Free's, (again IMO) often play "ugly" or "wrong-looking" moves, even though they still beat me easily. For serious games I often manually play the first few moves for both sides, thus "forcing" the opening. (eg. I'd rather play a White RuyLopez or Sicilian than a French or Petroff). If I was going to buy an Engine, I would probably get the latest Shredder, as from what I've read here, it is a "slow-highknowledge" searcher, in the vein of Hiarcs.
