At the half-way mark:

1) 71 games: +22, -20, = 29, net +2 ... Shredder/Intel beat Fritz/AMD

2) 71 games: +26, -23, = 22, net +3 ... Shredder/AMD beat Fritz/Intel

3) 88 games: +27, -19, = 42, net +8 ... Fritz/Intel beat Fritz/AMD

4) 69 games: +13, -12, = 44, net +1 ... Shredder/AMD beat Shredder/Intel

So:

A) 142 games: +48, -43, = 51, net +5 ... Shredder beat Fritz

B) 299 games: +84, -78, =137, net +6 ... Intel beat AMD

Hardware:

2x Intel Xeon 2.4 GHz on the Supermicro P4DPE 1(?)Gbyte PC1600 m'board
v
2x AMD Athlon MP 2000+ 1667 MHz on the Tyan Thunder K7X 1Gbyte PC2100 m'board

Comments:

a) at 4.8 Ghz to 3337 MHz, Intel is apparently 'outgunning' AMD
so the net +6 does not look surprising

b) "Shredder > Fritz" with statistical confidence level of only 70%

c) "Intel setup > AMD setup" with stat. conf. level of only 67.5%

d) Shredder plays a tighter game against itself than Fritz
and again, the stat. conf. level for this statement is not overwhelming

In the second half, Shredder/Intel leads Fritz/AMD, +16, -14, =20

Time regime:
   each match is ~24 hours
   each game is 10min +2secs/move = 12m each for a 60-move game
most games seem longer than this
