I definitely have changed the default parameters though, so I'm not sure if I am a lucky benefactor of those changes or are you somehow a victim of your defaults? I would make sure that Java is enabled (though I'm virtually certain it is by default). For my browser only the JIT compiler is enabled, so if that is the default, then the problem must be elsewhere.
