I agree that every pruning can be described as extensions but this was not what
I meant when I explained that you can get a speed improvement.

The point is that it is possible to get usually the same results faster relative
to deeper blue (in few cases you are going to be slower) but the total result is
improvement.

Deep blue had extensions but I believe that they did not have rules to extend
quiet lines of logical moves.
