The closest would be the "positional" programs like Hiarcs or Shredder or the "reckless speculative attackers" like Gambit Tiger, but they still fall short of a human GM's ability to carry out long range planning. Even Hiarcs has trouble find the correct long range plan in a position that a human GM would instinctively know what to do. For instance a human GM in a certain position would have an instant intuitive sense that the correct plan would be to prepare for, let us say, an f2-f4-f5 advance even though this would require many preparatory moves and may be 10-15 moves away. A computer would never begin to play those preparatory moves unless the position is a theoretical one and it's still in its opening book. Underscoring this this the fact that an opening book may be prepared by a GM and who knows that the resulting position at the end of the book line is in favor of the computer's side, yet the computer upon leaving its book will not understand the plan it must follow and evaluate its position as inferior!
