By the time Genius 6 hits the shelves there might be some other "Fritz class" or
even stronger programs available. Most notably
- Junior 5
- Nimzo 98E (assuming it's stronger than N98)
- Hiarcs 7
- Rebel 10
- Ferret (???)
- Shredder 3 (?? don't know how much improvement to expect here)
- MChess 8 (?)
all are hot candidates for #1 on any rating lists or tournaments. And don't
forget Fritz 6 (maybe using bitmaps to finally accomplish much needed cheap 2nd
order evaluation of pawn levers etc.). And I didn't even mention the possibility
that de Koning finally releases The King 3.0 with a decent user interface. Also
David Kittinger might come back with a new Wchess ....
Conclusion: Beating Fritz will in a couple of weeks be no longer sufficient to
get to the top ...
