How many live chess matches have you been to? You could take the attendance
receipts from all the top OTB human chess tournaments around the world each year
and you might have enough for the rental of a large sized hall. Maybe this is an
exaggeration but not by much. Kasparov-Deep Blue matche excepted. There are so
few spectators at most chess tournaments that almost all of them never charge
admittance. You can't capture the emotion if you don't go. And of course videos
of chess don't exactly make the evening news.
