Yes, it is known that different programs report the search depths differently, and chessmaster more conservatively than most, in fact the only one that i know of more so is genius, where its 8 ply plays like cm 110 in an equivalent time. CM 10 ply plays about like other programs 12 ply, but still takes much longer than their 12 ply. Cm is not a professional class program like fritz and some others ( but i wish it was ! ) You still fail to see the flaw in your argument, and that primarily is, that if it were as good as u say, believe me, the public would be useing it on the net, they are not, and you cannot understand why i suppose :( .. (but durn... wish i could get u to understand what is it like trying to battle those stronger programs with chessmaster, and failing that, it is unlikely that we shall see a chessmaster version that can, have tried all the newer versions with less success than cm55).
